Childhood Trauma Treatment
At Elevated Healing Treatment Centers in Woodland Hills, we provide compassionate and effective treatment for childhood trauma. Our dedicated team is committed to helping individuals heal from deep-rooted wounds through a comprehensive, evidence-based approach. Below, we outline some of the key therapeutic methods we employ to support our clients on their journey to recovery.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a cornerstone of our treatment approach for childhood trauma. This therapy focuses on identifying and challenging the negative thought patterns and beliefs that can develop as a result of traumatic experiences. Through CBT, clients learn to replace these harmful thoughts with more balanced and realistic ones, which can lead to a significant reduction in symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and self-doubt. Our therapists work closely with clients to help them develop healthy coping mechanisms and regain control over their emotional responses.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is another powerful tool in treating childhood trauma. Originally developed to treat borderline personality disorder, DBT has been adapted to help individuals who have experienced severe emotional distress, including trauma. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices, helping clients regulate their emotions, tolerate distress, and improve their relationships with others. Our DBT program emphasizes the development of skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. This holistic approach helps clients achieve greater emotional stability and resilience.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective treatment for individuals who have experienced childhood trauma. EMDR helps clients process and integrate traumatic memories in a way that reduces their impact on daily life. During an EMDR session, clients are guided to recall distressing memories while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as following the therapist’s hand movements with their eyes. This process helps to reprocess the traumatic memories, allowing the brain to heal and reducing the power these memories hold over the individual’s present life. Our trained EMDR therapists provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to work through their trauma at their own pace.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a relatively new, yet promising, treatment modality that is gaining recognition for its effectiveness in treating trauma. ART combines elements of traditional psychotherapies with eye movement techniques similar to those used in EMDR. Clients are guided to visualize their trauma in a way that allows them to reframe and release distressing emotions and images. The unique aspect of ART is its focus on positive imagery, which is used to replace negative memories and associations.
